A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to installing sound barriers and beautification along |
|
|
certain parts of State Highway 288 in Houston. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 201.6105 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 201.6105. SOUND BARRIER ON CERTAIN HIGHWAYS. (a) As |
|
|
soon as practicable, the department shall erect sound barrier walls |
|
|
with beautification elements along the east side of State Highway |
|
|
288 in Houston, from the intersection of State Highway 288 and South |
|
|
MacGregor Way to the intersection of State Highway 288 and West Orem |
|
|
Drive. |
|
|
(b) The sound barriers shall be designed to reduce highway |
|
|
noise for residences located in the vicinity of State Highway 288. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
