A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the jurisdiction of the commissioner of education to |
|
|
hear appeals arising under the school laws of this state. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 7.057(f)(2), Education Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(2) "School laws of this state" means laws codified in |
|
|
Title 1 and this title and rules adopted under those titles. The |
|
|
term does not include a law outside of Title 1 or this title: |
|
|
(A) to which Title 1 or this title makes a |
|
|
reference; or |
|
|
(B) with which Title 1 or this title requires |
|
|
compliance. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
