A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to an exemption from the food stamp employment and |
|
training program requirement for certain persons. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 33, Human Resources Code, is amended by |
|
adding Section 33.0126 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 33.0126. EXEMPTION FROM FOOD STAMP EMPLOYMENT AND |
|
TRAINING PROGRAM. A person is not required to participate in the |
|
food stamp employment and training program authorized under 7 |
|
U.S.C. Section 2015(d) if the person: |
|
(1) works an average of at least 20 hours each week; or |
|
(2) receives earnings that are equal to at least the |
|
minimum wage established under Section 62.051, Labor Code, |
|
multiplied by 20. |
|
SECTION 2. If before implementing any provision of this Act |
|
a state agency determines that a waiver or authorization from a |
|
federal agency is necessary for implementation of that provision, |
|
the agency affected by the provision shall request the waiver or |
|
authorization and may delay implementing that provision until the |
|
waiver or authorization is granted. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
