A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the duties of a court granting an occupational license
  to a person whose driver's license has been suspended.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 521.249, Transportation Code, is amended
  by amending Subsection (a) and adding Subsection (a-1) to read as
  follows:
         (a)  Not later than the 10th day after the date the court
  signs an order granting an occupational license to a person, the
  [The] court shall send:
               (1)  a certified copy of the petition and the court
  order setting out the judge's findings and restrictions to the
  department; and
               (2)  a copy of the order to the person.
         (a-1)  The person may use a copy of the order as a restricted
  license until the 31st day after the date on which the order takes
  effect.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
