A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the design and issuance of license plates for United |
|
|
States paratroopers. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 504.307, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 504.307. UNITED STATES PARATROOPERS [AIRBORNE
|
|
|
PARACHUTISTS]. (a) The department shall issue specialty license |
|
|
plates for [persons] active and former members of the United States |
|
|
armed services who have: |
|
|
(1) satisfactorily completed the prescribed |
|
|
proficiency tests while assigned or attached to an airborne unit or |
|
|
the Airborne Department of the United States Army Infantry School; |
|
|
or |
|
|
(2) participated in at least one combat parachute |
|
|
jump. |
|
|
(b) The license plates must include: |
|
|
(1) a likeness of the parachutist badge authorized by |
|
|
the Department of the Army; and |
|
|
(2) the words "U.S. Paratrooper". |

SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
