A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to notification of certain members of the legislature if a |
|
|
school district fails to file its annual audit report in a timely |
|
|
manner. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 44.008, Education Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (d-1) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d-1) If a school district has not filed a copy of the school |
|
|
district's annual audit report in compliance with Subsection (d) by |
|
|
the 60th day after the date specified by that subsection, the agency |
|
|
shall promptly report the school district's failure to comply to |
|
|
each member of the legislature whose district contains any portion |
|
|
of the territory included in the school district. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
