A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
 
  relating to normal weekly hours of work under the shared work
  unemployment compensation program.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 215.001(3), Labor Code, is amended to
  read as follows:
               (3)  "Normal weekly hours of work" means the number of
  hours in a week that an employee ordinarily works for a
  participating employer or an average of 40 hours per week over a
  two-week pay period, whichever is less.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
