A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the definition of an electric bicycle for purposes |
|
|
related to the use, registration, and licensing of electric |
|
|
bicycles. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 541.201(24), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(24) "Electric bicycle" means a bicycle that: |
|
|
(A) is designed to be propelled by an electric |
|
|
motor with a power output of 3,000 watts or less, exclusively or in |
|
|
combination with the application of human power; and |
|
|
(B) cannot attain a speed of more than 30 [20] |
|
|
miles per hour without the application of human power[; and
|
|
|
[(C) does not exceed a weight of 100 pounds]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
