A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the enrollment required for the University of North |
|
|
Texas System to issue revenue bonds to fund facilities at the |
|
|
University of North Texas Dallas Campus. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 55.1755(d), Education Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) Notwithstanding Subsection (a), the University of North |
|
|
Texas System may not issue bonds under this section for facilities |
|
|
at the University of North Texas Dallas Campus until the Texas |
|
|
Higher Education Coordinating Board certifies that enrollment at |
|
|
the University of North Texas Dallas Campus has reached an |
|
|
enrollment equivalent of 1,000 [1,500] full-time students for one |
|
|
semester. If that enrollment is not reached by January 1, 2010, the |
|
|
system's authority to issue bonds for the University of North Texas |
|
|
Dallas Campus under this section expires on that date. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
