A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the ballot language for junior college district |
|
|
annexation elections. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 130.065(g), Education Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(g) The ballot shall be printed to provide for voting for or |
|
|
against the proposition: "Approving the annexation by the |
|
|
_________ (name of junior college district) ["Annexation] of the |
|
|
following territory [for junior college purposes]: __________[",] |
|
|
(with the blank filled in with a description of the territory |
|
|
proposed for annexation), and the imposition of an ad valorem tax |
|
|
for junior college purposes at a rate of ____________ (with the |
|
|
blank filled in with the maximum permitted ad valorem tax rate of |
|
|
the district) per $100 valuation of taxable property."[.] |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to the ballot for an election ordered to be held on or after the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
