A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the issuance of a master electrician license to certain |
|
persons performing electrical work in unincorporated areas of the |
|
state. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. (a) Notwithstanding any provision of Chapter |
|
1305, Occupations Code, to the contrary, the Texas Department of |
|
Licensing and Regulation shall issue a master electrician license |
|
to an applicant who: |
|
(1) has owned and operated an electrical business |
|
continuously since 1988; |
|
(2) performs electrical work exclusively in |
|
unincorporated areas of the state; and |
|
(3) pays an application fee prescribed by the |
|
department. |
|
(b) On the request of the executive director of the Texas |
|
Department of Licensing and Regulation, an applicant for a license |
|
issued under this section shall provide the executive director with |
|
detailed information of the electrical work performed by the |
|
applicant. |
|
(c) A person issued a license under this section is subject |
|
to Chapter 1305, Occupations Code. |
|
(d) The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation shall: |
|
(1) accept applications for a license issued under |
|
this section only between September 1, 2009, and September 7, 2009; |
|
and |
|
(2) publish notice of the application period under |
|
this section on the department's Internet website. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act expires September 8, 2009. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
