A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the disposition of fees collected for certain specialty |
|
|
license plates. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Of each fee collected for Donate Life Texas |
|
|
license plates issued under Section 504.801, Transportation Code, |
|
|
the Texas Department of Transportation shall send $22 to the |
|
|
comptroller. Money received by the comptroller under this section |
|
|
must be used to pay the costs of the Glenda Dawson Donate Life-Texas |
|
|
Registry, established under Chapter 49, Health and Safety Code, and |
|
|
of the Texas Organ, Tissue, and Eye Donor Council, established |
|
|
under Chapter 113, Health and Safety Code. Any money that is in |
|
|
excess of the amount necessary to accomplish the purposes of this |
|
|
section may be awarded using a competitive grant process to |
|
|
qualified organizations to conduct organ, eye, and tissue donation |
|
|
education activities in this state. A member of the Texas Organ, |
|
|
Tissue, and Eye Donor Council may not receive a grant under this |
|
|
section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
