A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to requiring instruction on the use of traffic circles. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 1001, Education Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 1001.109 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 1001.109. INFORMATION RELATING TO TRAFFIC CIRCLES. |
|
|
(a) The commissioner by rule shall require that information |
|
|
relating to the proper procedure for approaching, driving through, |
|
|
and yielding the right-of-way at a traffic circle be included in the |
|
|
curriculum of each driver education and driving safety course. |
|
|
(b) The department shall include the information required |
|
|
by Subsection (a) in any edition of the Texas driver's handbook |
|
|
published after the department exhausts the supply of the handbook |
|
|
that the department had on September 1, 2009. |
|
|
(c) In developing rules under this section, the |
|
|
commissioner shall consult with the department. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
