A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to creating a recognition day in honor of aviation |
|
|
maintenance technicians. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter C, Chapter 662, Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Section 662.055 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 662.055. AVIATION MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN DAY. (a) |
|
|
May 24 is Aviation Maintenance Technician Day in memory of Charles |
|
|
Edward Taylor, the aviation maintenance technician who built and |
|
|
maintained the engine that powered Orville and Wilbur Wright's |
|
|
first flying machine. |
|
|
(b) Aviation Maintenance Technician Day may be regularly |
|
|
observed by appropriate ceremonies and activities to commemorate |
|
|
the birthday of Charles Edward Taylor and to recognize the vital |
|
|
contributions of Charles Edward Taylor and other American aviation |
|
|
maintenance technicians to the field of aviation. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
