A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the certification of sheriffs and deputy sheriffs to |
|
|
enforce commercial motor vehicle safety standards. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 644.101(c), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(c) A sheriff or a deputy sheriff [of a county bordering the
|
|
|
United Mexican States or of a county with a population of 2.2
|
|
|
million or more] is eligible to apply for certification under this |
|
|
section. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
