A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a program to designate the Bankhead Highway as a |
|
|
historic highway. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 201, Transportation Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 201.621 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 201.621. BANKHEAD HIGHWAY AS TEXAS HISTORIC HIGHWAY. |
|
|
(a) The department shall cooperate with the Texas Historical |
|
|
Commission to establish a program for the identification, |
|
|
designation, interpretation, and marketing of the Bankhead Highway |
|
|
as a Texas historic highway, for the portion of the Bankhead Highway |
|
|
located in this state. |
|
|
(b) To supplement revenue available for the program, the |
|
|
department and the Texas Historical Commission may pursue federal |
|
|
funds dedicated to highway enhancement for the project. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
