A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the authority of certain counties to establish economic |
|
|
development projects or create improvement districts to construct |
|
|
educational facilities. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 372.105, Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |
|
|
(d) A county with a population of more than 850,000 and less |
|
|
than 1.4 million by order may establish an economic development |
|
|
project or create a district under this subchapter to build an |
|
|
educational facility to accomplish the economic development |
|
|
purposes prescribed by Section 52a, Article III, Texas |
|
|
Constitution. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
