A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the tallying of certain straight-party votes. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 65.007, Election Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Subsection (e) to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) A straight-party vote, including a straight-party |
|
|
selection recorded on a direct recording electronic voting machine, |
|
|
shall be tallied for the party receiving the vote notwithstanding |
|
|
the presence or absence of any additional vote for a nominee of that |
|
|
party. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
