A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the deduction of membership fees for correctional |
|
|
employee organizations from a state employee's salary. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 659.1031(b), Government Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(b) In this section, "eligible state employee organization" |
|
|
means a state employee organization with a membership of at least |
|
|
2,000 active or retired state employees who: |
|
|
(1) hold or who have held certification from the |
|
|
Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education; or |
|
|
(2) are employed or have been employed by the Texas |
|
|
Department of Criminal Justice. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
