A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the delegation of duties of a county judge in certain |
|
|
counties. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. The heading to Section 81.028, Local Government |
|
|
Code, is amended to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 81.028. DELEGATION OF DUTIES OF A COUNTY JUDGE IN |
|
|
CERTAIN COUNTIES [WITH POPULATION OF MORE THAN 1,000,000]. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Section 81.028(a), Local Government Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(a) This section applies exclusively to a county judge in a |
|
|
county with a population of: |
|
|
(1) more than 1,000,000; or |
|
|
(2) more than 600,000 and located on the international |
|
|
border. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
