A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to information required of an applicant for a driver's |
|
|
license. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 521.142(e), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(e) The application must include any other information the |
|
|
department requires to determine the applicant's identity, |
|
|
competency, and eligibility, except the application may not include |
|
|
an inquiry as to whether the applicant has been diagnosed with, |
|
|
treated, or hospitalized for a psychiatric disorder. |
|
|
SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only |
|
|
to an application for a driver's license filed on or after the |
|
|
effective date of this Act. An application filed before the |
|
|
effective date of this Act is subject to the law in effect on the |
|
|
date of filing, and that law is continued in effect for that |
|
|
purpose. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
