A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the consideration of longevity and cost of living in |
|
setting the salaries for certain municipal employees. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 141, Local Government |
|
Code, is amended by adding Section 141.010 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 141.010. MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES IN TYPE A AND B |
|
GENERAL-LAW MUNICIPALITIES. To the extent consistent with |
|
Subchapter B of this chapter and Chapters 142 and 143, the governing |
|
body of a Type A or B general-law municipality may consider |
|
longevity and cost of living in setting the salary of a municipal |
|
employee. |
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
