A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the development of a solar energy visualization |
|
|
platform by the State Energy Conservation Office. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Chapter 447, Government Code, is amended by |
|
|
adding Section 447.017 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 447.017. SOLAR ENERGY VISUALIZATION PLATFORM. The |
|
|
State Energy Conservation Office, in conjunction with |
|
|
municipalities, counties, state agencies, the federal government, |
|
|
private businesses, and nonprofit organizations, shall use a |
|
|
virtual mapping program to develop an Internet-accessible |
|
|
application that: |
|
|
(1) allows a user to enter a location's address and |
|
|
view that location on a map; and |
|
|
(2) provides the user with the following information |
|
|
with respect to that location: |
|
|
(A) the estimated amount of solar photovoltaic |
|
|
panels that could be installed on the roof of a building at that |
|
|
location; |
|
|
(B) the estimated amount of solar photovoltaic |
|
|
energy that would be generated from the installation of solar |
|
|
photovoltaic panels on the building; |
|
|
(C) the estimated electricity cost reduction |
|
|
that would result from the installation of solar photovoltaic |
|
|
panels on the building; |
|
|
(D) the estimated carbon dioxide emission |
|
|
reduction that would result from the installation of solar |
|
|
photovoltaic panels on the building; and |
|
|
(E) information on installing solar photovoltaic |
|
|
panels including the contact information for local installers of |
|
|
solar photovoltaic panels. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
