A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a study on the cost and benefits of undocumented |
|
|
immigrants to the state budget and economy. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. The comptroller of public accounts shall conduct |
|
|
a study on the cost and benefits of undocumented immigrants to the |
|
|
state budget and economy, including the impact on education, health |
|
|
care, incarceration, salaries, and revenue for local governments |
|
|
and the state government. |
|
|
SECTION 2. On or before December 1, 2010, the comptroller |
|
|
shall: |
|
|
(1) publish the study on the Internet on a publicly |
|
|
accessible web page on an official Internet website of the |
|
|
comptroller's office; and |
|
|
(2) provide a copy of the study to the governor, the |
|
|
lieutenant governor, the speaker of the house of representatives, |
|
|
and each standing committee of the legislature with jurisdiction |
|
|
over matters related to the study. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
