A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the coordination and administration of the Texas Career |
|
Opportunity Grant Program. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 305, Labor Code, is |
|
amended by adding Section 305.003 to read as follows: |
|
Sec. 305.003. MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING. The commission |
|
and the coordinating board shall enter into a memorandum of |
|
understanding for the coordination and administration of the grant |
|
program established under Subchapter B. Functions assigned to the |
|
commission under this chapter may be assigned to the coordinating |
|
board pursuant to the memorandum of understanding. |
|
SECTION 2. The transfer to the Texas Higher Education |
|
Coordinating Board of any functions relating to the administration |
|
of the Texas Career Opportunity Grant Program pursuant to a |
|
memorandum of understanding entered into under Section 305.003, |
|
Labor Code, as added by this Act, applies beginning with grants |
|
awarded for the 2010 fall semester. Grants awarded for an academic |
|
period before that semester are covered by the law in effect |
|
immediately before the effective date of this Act, and the former |
|
law is continued in effect for that purpose. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
