A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|

|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the minimum electronic mail retention period required |
|
|
by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 441.185(f), Government Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
(f) The commission may by rule prescribe a minimum retention |
|
|
period for any state record unless a minimum retention period for |
|
|
the record is prescribed by another federal or state law, |
|
|
regulation, or rule of court. The commission shall require the |
|
|
retention of electronic mail records for a period of not less than |
|
|
three years. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
