A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to a study of fire flow service by water supply |
|
|
corporations in semi-urban areas. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter E, Chapter 13, Water Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Section 13.148 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 13.148. STUDY OF FIRE FLOW SERVICE BY WATER SUPPLY |
|
|
CORPORATIONS. (a) The commission shall conduct a study regarding |
|
|
the role of water supply corporations in providing potable water |
|
|
for fire flow that is sufficient to support the placement of fire |
|
|
hydrants and the connection of the water system to fire suppression |
|
|
equipment in semi-urban areas experiencing rapid development. |
|
|
(b) The study required by Subsection (a) must examine: |
|
|
(1) the actions a water supply corporation must take |
|
|
to supply adequate fire flow in semi-urban areas; and |
|
|
(2) the costs associated with providing adequate fire |
|
|
flow in semi-urban areas. |
|
|
(c) Not later than December 1, 2010, the commission shall |
|
|
submit a report regarding the results of the study to the |
|
|
legislature. |
|
|
(d) This section expires September 2, 2011. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
