A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the operations of the office of independent ombudsman |
|
|
for the Texas Youth Commission. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 64.054, Human Resources Code, is amended |
|
|
to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 64.054. SUNSET PROVISION. The office is subject to |
|
|
review under Chapter 325, Government Code (Texas Sunset Act), but |
|
|
is not abolished under that chapter. The office shall be reviewed |
|
|
during the periods in which state agencies abolished in 2015 [2009] |
|
|
and every 12th year after 2015 [2009] are reviewed. |
|
|
SECTION 2. Subchapter B, Chapter 64, Human Resources Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 64.060 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 64.060. COMPLAINTS. (a) The office shall maintain a |
|
|
system to promptly and efficiently act on complaints filed with the |
|
|
office that relate to the operations or staff of the office. The |
|
|
office shall maintain information about parties to the complaint, |
|
|
the subject matter of the complaint, a summary of the results of the |
|
|
review or investigation of the complaint, and its disposition. |
|
|
(b) The office shall make information available describing |
|
|
its procedures for complaint investigation and resolution. |
|
|
(c) The office shall periodically notify the complaint |
|
|
parties of the status of the complaint until final disposition. |
|
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
