A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the creation of the Texas Classroom Coaching Program. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 11.252, Education Code is amended by |
|
adding Subsection 11.252(g) to read as follows: |
|
Section 11.252(g). A district improvement plan may |
|
establish a Texas Classroom Coaching program with the objective to; |
|
(1) improve student academic performance; and |
|
(2) reduce dropout rates. |
|
SECTION 2. Chapter 661, Government Code is amended by |
|
adding Subchapter 661.920 to read as follows: |
|
Section 661.920 TEXAS CLASSROOM COACHING. (a) A state |
|
employee continuously engaged in weekly classroom visits of 45 |
|
minutes in duration as a volunteer in the Texas Classroom Coaching |
|
Program established under 11.252(g), Education Code, may be granted |
|
a leave of absence without a deduction in salary or loss of vacation |
|
time, sick leave, earned overtime credit, or state compensatory |
|
time. |
|
(b) the leave of absence may not exceed 80 hours per fiscal |
|
year and 2 hours per week. Visits will be validated by school staff. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
