A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the appointment and qualifications of bailiffs for |
|
certain courts in Cameron County. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 53.001, Government Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsection (k) to read as follows: |
|
(k) Each district court judge in Cameron County may appoint |
|
bailiffs. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 53.004, Government Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsection (h) to read as follows: |
|
(h) To be eligible to be appointed as a bailiff in a district |
|
or statutory county court in Cameron County under Section |
|
53.001(k), a person must be at least 21 years old, be of good moral |
|
character, and hold a peace officer license issued under Chapter |
|
1701, Occupations Code, from the Commission on Law Enforcement |
|
Officer Standards and Education. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
