A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
relating to the appointment and qualifications of bailiffs for |
|
certain courts in Cameron County. |
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
SECTION 1. Section 53.001, Government Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsection (k) to read as follows: |
|
(k) Each district court judge in Cameron County shall |
|
appoint a bailiff. |
|
SECTION 2. Section 53.004, Government Code, is amended by |
|
adding Subsection (h) to read as follows: |
|
(h) To be eligible to be appointed bailiff in a district or |
|
statutory county court in Cameron County under Section 53.001(k), a |
|
person must be at least 21 years old, be a resident of Cameron |
|
County, be of good moral character, and hold a peace officer license |
|
issued under Chapter 1701, Occupations Code, from the Commission on |
|
Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education. |
|
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
