A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the issuance of collegiate license plates. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 504.615, Transportation Code, is amended |
|
|
by adding Subsection (d-1) and amending Subsection (e) to read as |
|
|
follows: |
|
|
(d-1) If the fee is for the issuance of license plates for a |
|
|
college described by Subsection (e)(3), the amount of the fee |
|
|
remaining after deduction of the department's administrative costs |
|
|
shall be deposited to the credit of the Texas Higher Education |
|
|
Coordinating Board and may be used only to fund the award of TEXAS |
|
|
grants under Subchapter M, Chapter 56, Education Code. |
|
|
(e) In this section, "college" means: |
|
|
(1) an institution of higher education as defined by |
|
|
Section 61.003, Education Code; [or] |
|
|
(2) a private college or university described by |
|
|
Section 61.222, Education Code; or |
|
|
(3) the University of Notre Dame. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
