A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
 
AN ACT
  relating to the authority of Harris County probate judges to sign
  orders and act on each other's behalf in the event of their absence,
  disqualification, or incapacity.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Section 15.1034, Texas Government Code, is
  amended by adding Subsection (n) to read as follows:
         (n)  A Harris County statutory probate judge may sit and act
  on behalf of any other Harris County statutory probate judge who is
  unavailable to serve due to absence, disqualification, incapacity,
  or for any other reason, in any Harris County probate court
  courtroom, in any matter or proceeding pending in any Harris County
  statutory probate court.  A Harris County statutory probate court
  judge may sign any orders in any matter or proceeding that the judge
  of any other Harris County statutory probate court may sign.
         SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
  a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
  provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution.  If this
  Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
  Act takes effect September 1, 2009.
