A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to an optional additional fine for the violation of a |
|
|
municipal rule, ordinance, or police regulation to be used to |
|
|
support municipal parks. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 54, Local Government Code, |
|
|
is amended by adding Section 54.007 to read as follows: |
|
|
Sec. 54.007. OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL FINE TO SUPPORT MUNICIPAL |
|
|
PARKS. (a) A municipality by ordinance may assess an additional |
|
|
fine for each violation of a municipal rule, ordinance, or police |
|
|
regulation in an amount of 10 percent of the fine originally |
|
|
assessed, but not less than $10. |
|
|
(b) The additional fine must be used to support municipal |
|
|
parks. |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2009. |
