HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Leslie |
|
Nix of Clarksville, who died on January 28, 2009, at the age of 51; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Leslie Nix was born on March 1, 1957, in Butte, |
|
Montana, to Jim and Dorothy Favors Power; and |
|
WHEREAS, For 18 years, Ms. Nix served as the tax |
|
assessor-collector of Red River County, and the trust and respect |
|
she earned from area residents was demonstrated by her reelection |
|
to that office time and again; and |
|
WHEREAS, A member of First Baptist Church, Ms. Nix was |
|
strengthened by her faith, and she strengthened the faith of those |
|
around her; and |
|
WHEREAS, Although she was taken far too soon, Leslie Nix |
|
leaves behind a legacy of serenity, wisdom, and compassion that |
|
will long resonate in the lives of her loved ones; now, therefore, |
|
be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby pay tribute to the life of Leslie Nix and extend sincere |
|
condolences to the members of her family: to her husband, David Nix; |
|
to her parents, Jim and Dorothy Power; to her son, Brandon Nix, and |
|
his wife, Tami; to her daughters, Ashlyn Nix and Alisha Rhoades and |
|
her husband, Sean; to her grandchildren, Presley Rhoades, Luke |
|
Rhoades, Chance Rhoades, and Kora Nix; to her sister, Vickie |
|
Powell, and her husband, Bobby; and to her other relatives and |
|
friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
|
Leslie Nix. |
