CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Renovation of the interchange surrounding the Texas |
|
|
Stadium site in Irving will bring significant benefits to the |
|
|
Greater Dallas area, improving mobility, access, and safety while |
|
|
promoting economic development; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, On October 16, 2008, ground was broken for the |
|
|
transportation construction known as the Irving Diamond |
|
|
Interchange project; this project will streamline the area's four |
|
|
major thoroughfares, State Highways 183 and 114, Loop 12, and Spur |
|
|
482, with the Trinity Parkway and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit |
|
|
Orange Line, which will reach Las Colinas in 2011 and the |
|
|
Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Enhancements to this busy interchange will mitigate |
|
|
traffic congestion, resulting in better air quality and easier |
|
|
access to the airport, which is served by State Highway 183 in the |
|
|
south and State Highway 114 in the north; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Located in the center of the Dallas-Fort Worth |
|
|
Metroplex, this interchange is distinguished by exceptional |
|
|
characteristics that combine to form the geographic shape of a |
|
|
diamond and will provide a distinctive and signature landmark for |
|
|
North Texas; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
|
hereby designate as the Diamond Interchange the interchange |
|
|
surrounding the site of Texas Stadium in Irving and connecting |
|
|
State Highways 183 and 114, Loop 12, and Spur 482 with the Trinity |
|
|
Parkway and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Orange Line; and, be it |
|
|

|
|
RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official |
|
|
copy of this resolution to the chair of the Texas Transportation |
|
|
Commission and the executive director of the Texas Department of |
|
|
Transportation. |
