  H.C.R. No. 156
 
 
 
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
  meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
  of Thomas Shelby Justiss of Fort Worth, who passed away on March 16,
  2009, at the age of 82; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Paris, Mr. Justiss was born in 1926 to
  Kathryn and Thomas Shelby Justiss, Sr.; active in school, church,
  and the Boy Scouts of America, he attained the rank of Eagle Scout
  at the age of 15; he went on to attend Paris Junior College and serve
  his country in the Army during World War II; and
         WHEREAS, Following the war, he earned a bachelor's degree
  from Texas A&M University, where he majored in structural
  engineering and also participated in the Corps of Cadets and Ross
  Volunteers; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Justiss began his career as a field engineer for
  the Texas Company in Port Neches; recalled to active duty in 1950,
  he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War; he left
  military service as a captain and settled in Fort Worth, joining the
  staff of Texas Industries; by virtue of his hard work and diligent
  service, he retired from the company in 1990 as a divisional vice
  president; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Justiss was an active and faithful member of
  St. Christopher Episcopal Church, serving the congregation as
  church treasurer; a registered professional structural engineer,
  he shared his time with the American Society of Civil Engineers and
  the Texas Society of Professional Engineers; and
         WHEREAS, Dedicated to his family, Mr. Justiss was a loving
  husband to his wife of 56 years, Jackie, and a devoted father to his
  four precious daughters, Kim, Marci, Gina, and Leanne; and
         WHEREAS, Although Thomas Justiss is deeply missed, he will
  long be remembered with great affection by those fortunate enough
  to have shared in the richness of his life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Thomas Shelby Justiss and extend
  sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Jackie
  Justiss; to his daughters, Kim and her husband, Jerry Hunter, Marci
  and her husband, Calvin Blankenship, Gina and her husband, Byron
  Lancaster, and Leanne and her husband, Keith Walker; to his
  grandchildren, Patrick Blankenship and his wife, Kailee, James and
  Daniel Blankenship, and Katerina and Max Lancaster; and to his
  other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Thomas Shelby Justiss.
