HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
 
         WHEREAS, The 76th Texas Legislature passed House Bill 1865,
  which amended Section 448.031, Government Code, to "establish a
  Juneteenth memorial monument on the grounds of the State Capitol in
  cooperation with the State Preservation Board"; and
         WHEREAS, Although the monument has yet to be installed, the
  legislature supports continued authorization for its establishment
  and for its placement at the location approved by the State
  Preservation Board at its February 14, 2003, meeting; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby express continued support for the establishment of a
  Juneteenth memorial monument on the grounds of the State Capitol at
  the location approved by the State Preservation Board in 2003; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That the secretary of state forward an official
  copy of this resolution to the executive director and members of the
  State Preservation Board.
