CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sense of loss
  felt by the family and friends of Cory James Galloway of Tyler, who
  died on January 25, 2009, at the age of 23; and
         WHEREAS, A member of the Kilgore Fire Department, Mr.
  Galloway and another firefighter lost their lives in the line of
  duty during a training exercise; and
         WHEREAS, Cory Galloway was born in Lewisville on October 30,
  1985, to Luke Edward Galloway and Regina Ann Griffith Galloway; he
  grew up in Van, where he graduated from Van High School in 2004; and
         WHEREAS, Pursuing his dream of becoming a firefighter, Mr.
  Galloway attended the Kilgore College Fire Academy and earned his
  emergency medical technician basic training certificate from Tyler
  Junior College; he was hired in 2008 as a firefighter and EMT by the
  Kilgore Fire Department, and he took great pride in that
  accomplishment; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Galloway was a devout Catholic, who was known
  for his quick wit and cheerful and generous spirit; after Hurricane
  Ike, he volunteered to help the Galveston Fire Department; and
         WHEREAS, The firefighters of Texas bravely perform dangerous
  and difficult tasks in the service of their communities, and
  through his hard work and dedication, Cory Galloway had joined that
  elite group of men and women; although he died much too soon, the
  memory of this brave and caring young man will live forever in the
  hearts of all who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Cory James Galloway and extend
  sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his parents,
  Luke and Regina Galloway; to his fiancee, Sarah Hunt; to his
  sisters, Jade Hopson and her husband, Chase, and Caitlin Galloway;
  to his grandparents, Ann Galloway and A. J. and Helen Griffith; to
  his niece, Ava Hopson; to his nephew, Ian Hopson; and to his other
  relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Cory James Galloway.
