HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
WHEREAS, Residents of the Pattonville area lost a beloved |
|
neighbor and friend with the death of Meredith G. Harper on April |
|
21, 2009, at the age of 66; and |
|
WHEREAS, The son of Jefferson and Lillie Harper, Meredith |
|
Harper was born in Slaton on April 19, 1943; he was a farmer and |
|
rancher and worked for the United States Department of Agriculture |
|
as a crop adjuster; in addition, he was a member of First Baptist |
|
Church in Paris, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school |
|
teacher; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Harper was married to the former Fay Turner, and |
|
the couple welcomed two children into their family, a daughter, |
|
Cherl, and a son, Jeffrey; and |
|
WHEREAS, Meredith Harper lived a caring and purposeful life, |
|
and he will long be remembered with admiration and affection by all |
|
those who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
hereby pay tribute to the memory of Meredith G. Harper and extend |
|
sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Fay |
|
Turner Harper; to his daughter, Cherl Harper Byles and her husband, |
|
Bruce; to his grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Byles; to his |
|
mother, Lillie Gentry Harper; to his sister, Carolyn Tefertiller |
|
and her husband, Duane; to his brother, Glen Harper; and to his |
|
other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
|
Meredith Harper. |
