H.C.R. No. 272
 
 
 
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
         WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Charlene
  Champion of Paris, Texas, who passed away on May 21, 2009, at the
  age of 84; and
         WHEREAS, The former Charlene Stevens was born on January 14,
  1925, to Butler and Iva Ladymon Stevens in the community of East
  Post Oak; she graduated from Blossom High School and attended Paris
  Junior College, and she taught in the East Post Oak schools during
  World War II; and
         WHEREAS, She was joined in matrimony to Clyde Champion in
  1946, and the couple enjoyed a rewarding relationship until Mr.
  Champion passed away; Mrs. Champion worked at First City National
  Bank for 35 years and was actively engaged in her community,
  teaching Sunday school classes at the First Baptist Church of
  Paris, volunteering at St. Joseph's Hospital and Paris Regional
  Medical Center, and helping charter the Paris Kiwanianne Club; and
         WHEREAS, Although Charlene Champion is deeply missed, her
  loved ones may take comfort in their many fond memories of the happy
  times they spent in her company; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas
  hereby pay tribute to the life of Charlene Champion and extend
  sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her brother, Glen
  Stevens, and his wife, Ina; to her niece, Eleni Brooks; to her
  great-niece, Anna Machen and her father, John; and to her other
  relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of
  Charlene Champion.
