HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Helen |
|
|
Louise Whitney of Paris, Texas, who passed away on May 23, 2009, at |
|
|
the age of 86; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The former Helen Pierce was born on February 16, |
|
|
1923, to Richard and Vera Cooper Pierce in Medill; she married John |
|
|
Whitney in 1972, and the couple enjoyed more than 37 years of |
|
|
rewarding matrimony; Mrs. Whitney worked as a dental assistant and |
|
|
office manager for various doctors around Paris and was a member of |
|
|
Calvary United Methodist Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Whitney was a dedicated parent to her three |
|
|
children, a daughter, Nancy L. Jackson, who preceded her mother in |
|
|
death, and two sons, Joel and Jeffrey Coward; with the passing |
|
|
years, she had the pleasure of welcoming six grandchildren and six |
|
|
great-grandchildren into the family; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Helen Whitney |
|
|
remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth and |
|
|
generosity, and she will forever hold a treasured place in their |
|
|
hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the 81st Legislature of the State of Texas |
|
|
hereby pay tribute to the life of Helen Louise Whitney and extend |
|
|
sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her husband, John |
|
|
W. Whitney; to her sons, Joel Coward and Jeffrey Coward and his |
|
|
wife, Sherry; to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; to her |
|
|
nephew, Allen Pierce; and to her other relatives and friends; and, |
|
|
be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives and Senate adjourn this day, they do so in memory of |
|
|
Helen Whitney. |
