R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Residents of Kerrville lost a beloved friend and
  renowned philanthropist with the death of Kathleen Cox Cailloux,
  who passed away on June 16, 2007, at the age of 92; and
         WHEREAS, Born on November 27, 1914, in Monroe City, Missouri,
  the former Kathy Cox grew up in Oklahoma City, where she graduated
  from Classen High School in 1933; she went on to pursue a modeling
  career in New York City and later moved with her family to Houston;
  in 1942, she married Floyd Cailloux, a friend from school, and the
  couple became the parents of three children, Patrick, Paula, and
  Ken; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Cailloux and her husband retired to Kerrville
  in the early 1980s and subsequently supported numerous charitable
  endeavors in the Texas Hill Country and throughout the state; among
  the organizations that benefited from their generosity are
  Schreiner University, the Gladney Center for Adoption, the Scottish
  Rite Children's Hospital, The University of Texas at Austin, the M.
  D. Anderson Cancer Center, and the Shriners Hospitals for Children
  in Galveston and Houston; in 1994, they founded the Floyd A. and
  Kathleen C. Cailloux Foundation to continue their patronage of
  nonprofit organizations in the Kerr County region; and
         WHEREAS, Following her husband's death in 1997, Mrs. Cailloux
  further contributed to Kerrville through the development of such
  organizations as the Cailloux Charter School at the Hill Country
  Youth Ranch, the Kathleen C. Cailloux City Center for the
  Performing Arts, and the Kathleen C. Cailloux Humane Society of
  Kerrville; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed woman was a devoted mother and
  grandmother who was known for her characteristic good nature and
  luminous smile; she enjoyed a variety of pursuits, including
  reading, gardening, cooking, and horseback riding, and she
  delighted in the company of her dogs; a lifelong Methodist, she drew
  strength from her faith and was a valued member of the First United
  Methodist Church of Kerrville; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to making the world a better place, Kathy
  Cailloux graciously shared her time and resources in behalf of her
  fellow citizens, and she leaves behind a legacy of compassion, joy,
  and benevolence that will long resonate in Kerrville and the Lone
  Star State; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Kathleen Cox Cailloux
  and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
  children, Paula Cailloux Heileman and her husband, Blacky, and
  Kenneth Floyd Cailloux and his wife, Sandy; to her grandchildren,
  Robert Stephen Andresakis and his wife, Summer, Ben Modisett and
  his wife, Leslie, and Cori Modisett; and to her
  great-grandchildren, Dylan and Jack Modisett; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kathleen
  Cox Cailloux.
