R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Residents of Kerrville lost a dedicated community
  leader and valued friend with the death of Lieutenant Colonel Fred
  F. Eubanks, Jr., (Ret.) in March 2008, at the age of 88; and
         WHEREAS, Born to Fred and Olivia Eubanks on October 20, 1919,
  in Mart, Fred Eubanks grew up in Kingsville and attended Schreiner
  Institute and Texas A&I University; he enlisted in the U.S. Marine
  Corps in 1939 and served in World War II, the Korean War, and the
  Vietnam War before retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1966;
  through the years, he received numerous decorations, including the
  Silver Star and the Purple Heart; and
         WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Eubanks went on to enjoy a brief
  career as a foreign service officer in Vietnam for the U.S. State
  Department; returning to Texas, he worked as a concealed handgun
  instructor and took a strong interest in civic affairs; he served as
  chair of the Kerr County Republicans for more than five years and as
  president of the Kerrville chapter of the Sons of the American
  Revolution; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan further distinguished himself
  as a longtime director of military ceremonies in the area, and
  through his participation in the VFW, the Heart of the Hills Chapter
  of the Air Force Association, the local chapter of the Retired
  Officers Association, and Kerrville Masonic Lodge No. 697;
  moreover, he was a member of Hunt United Methodist Church; he was
  preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Patterson Eubanks; and
         WHEREAS, Known for his genuine interest in others, his
  cheerful nature, and his love of adventure, Fred Eubanks made a
  positive difference in the world around him, and he will be
  remembered with great affection and admiration for many years to
  come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lieutenant Colonel
  Fred F. Eubanks, Jr., (Ret.) and extend sincere sympathy to the
  members of his family:  to his daughter, Marsha Eubanks Copeland and
  her husband, David J. Copeland; to his grandsons, Ross Alan
  Copeland and his wife, Tracy Colyer Copeland, and Douglas Ray
  Copeland and his wife, Kellie White Copeland; and to his
  great-grandsons, Connor Lewis Copeland, Reid Palmer Copeland, and
  Kieran Colyer Copeland; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Lieutenant
  Colonel Fred F. Eubanks, Jr. (Ret.).
