R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Stephanie Springer Middleton retired from her
  position as supervisor of the Clay Road branch of the Harris County
  Tax Office in 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Middleton joined the Harris County Tax Office
  in June 1992, after serving 25 years with Armco Steel/National
  Supply Company and four years with the Houston branch of the Texas
  comptroller's office; and
         WHEREAS, Demonstrating exceptional dedication and leadership
  during her tenure as a temporary employee, Mrs. Middleton was soon
  offered a permanent position, and throughout her career she has
  continued to provide her fellow residents with the highest level of
  customer service; and
         WHEREAS, A second generation Polish American and the youngest
  of eight girls, the former Stephanie Springer grew up in Chappell
  Hill and attended Brenham High School; she took courses in
  purchasing at the University of Houston, and in 1967, she married
  Kenneth Middleton; today she is the proud aunt and great-aunt of 75
  nieces and nephews; and
         WHEREAS, This notable public servant has made time in her
  busy schedule to work for the betterment of her community; she has
  volunteered with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for 33 years,
  serving in such capacities as team captain and vice chair of the
  World's Championship Bar-B-Que and the Communications-Editorial
  committees; moreover, she is a valued member of St. Elizabeth Ann
  Seton Catholic Church; and
         WHEREAS, Stephanie Middleton has truly been invaluable to the
  smooth and efficient operation of the Harris County Tax Office, and
  it is most appropriate to honor her for her many years of hard work
  and dedication; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Stephanie Springer Middleton on
  her retirement from the Harris County Tax Office and extend to her
  warmest best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Middleton as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
