R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Cy-Fair Magazine won five Best of Texas prizes at |
|
the 2007 Texas Community Newspapers Association Awards ceremony |
|
held on March 28, 2008; and |
|
WHEREAS, A statewide network of free distribution community |
|
newspapers, magazines, and shopping guides, TCNA hosts an annual |
|
competition in which it recognizes excellence in 26 categories; and |
|
WHEREAS, Cy-Fair Magazine is locally owned by Katrina |
|
Katsarelis, publisher and editor-in-chief, and Matt Katsarelis, |
|
publisher, and staffed by writers, editors, and photographers who |
|
seek to portray the warm, friendly spirit of the Cypress community; |
|
residents of the greater Cy-Fair area themselves, they gear stories |
|
and photographs to the needs and interests of their neighbors; and |
|
WHEREAS, The magazine received first place awards for |
|
Original News Headline ("A Toast to Woody Champagne") and |
|
Advertising Photo ("Aquatic Tex"), second place awards for Original |
|
News Story ("Big Growth on the Cypress Horizon") and Original Ad |
|
("Freckles--A Children's Boutique"), and a third place award for |
|
Banner (Cover) ("The Bright Side of Orthodontics"); and |
|
WHEREAS, With its receipt of multiple accolades from TCNA, |
|
Cy-Fair Magazine has set an outstanding example of community |
|
journalism to which others may aspire; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Cy-Fair Magazine on its receipt of |
|
five Best of Texas Awards from the Texas Community Newspapers |
|
Association and extend to all those associated with the publication |
|
best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the magazine's staff as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
