R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Katy Magazine won eight Best of Texas prizes at the
  2007 Texas Community Newspapers Association Awards ceremony held on
  March 28, 2008; and
         WHEREAS, A statewide network of free distribution community
  newspapers, magazines, and shopping guides, TCNA hosts an annual
  competition in which it recognizes excellence in 26 categories; and
         WHEREAS, Katy Magazine was founded in 2003 by local residents
  Katrina and Matt Katsarelis, and is staffed by area writers,
  editors, and photographers; produced quarterly, it focuses on
  children, education, health care, quality of life, and community
  service; and
         WHEREAS, The magazine received six first place TCNA awards
  for General Excellence, Banner (Cover), Feature Photo ("Life Begins
  at 55"), Automotive Ad ("Team Certified Suzuki Ad"), Media Kit, and
  Advertising Headline ("Delivering Katy's Future . . . One Baby at a
  Time"); it received second place awards for Advertising Headline
  ("The Bright Side of Orthodontics") and Feature Photo ("Celebrating
  Our Katy Veterans"); and
         WHEREAS, In addition, the young publication has collected
  numerous past honors, among them the 2007 Pinnacle Award from the
  Better Business Bureau of Metropolitan Houston, nine 2006 TCNA
  awards, and seven 2005 TCNA awards; and
         WHEREAS, The staff and contributors of Katy Magazine can take
  justifiable pride in their outstanding achievements, which have
  been acknowledged by the TCNA for the third year in a row; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Katy Magazine on its receipt of
  eight Best of Texas Awards from the Texas Community Newspapers
  Association and extend to all those associated with the publication
  best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the magazine's staff as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
