R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the heartache felt
  by family and friends at the loss of U.S. Army Master Sergeant James
  Curtis Coons of Conroe, who died on July 4, 2003, at the age of 35;
  and
         WHEREAS, A member of the armed forces since 1987, Master
  Sergeant Coons served his country with distinction for 16 years; he
  rose swiftly through the ranks, holding numerous leadership
  positions and attending such important training as the Primary
  Leadership Development Course, Basic Noncommissioned Officer's
  Course, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer's Course, and First
  Sergeant's Course; and
         WHEREAS, Master Sergeant Coons completed two tours in
  Okinawa, Japan, and was later deployed to Kuwait, where he managed
  the largest C4/IT in U.S. Army history within Southwest Asia during
  the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq; and
         WHEREAS, Despite the dangerous nature of his assignment, this
  brave Texan took great pride in his service and remained committed
  to fulfilling his mission to the best of his ability; his heroic
  service earned him a number of accolades through the years,
  including the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the
  Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good
  Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal; and
         WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have
  courageous men and women whose love of country leads them to
  military duty, and time can never diminish the profound debt that
  Americans owe to James Coons for the service he undertook and the
  sacrifice he rendered; and
         WHEREAS, The thoughts and prayers of many go out to the family
  of this beloved young man; he was a soldier of honor and valor, and
  those who knew and cherished him will forever carry him close in
  their hearts; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Master
  Sergeant James Curtis Coons and extend deepest sympathy to the
  members of his family: to his wife, Robin; to his daughters, Misaki
  Stacey and Chloe Brielle; to his parents, Richard and Carol Coons;
  and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That when the Texas House of Representatives
  adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Master Sergeant James
  Curtis Coons.
