R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Eunice A. Cooksey of Clifton commemorated a special
  milestone in her life with the celebration of her 90th birthday on
  October 12, 2008; and
         WHEREAS, A native Texan, the former Eunice Reesing was born
  in the Cooper community near Clifton, the 11th child of Oscar and
  Emma Reesing; she received baptism at Trinity Lutheran Church and
  graduated from Clifton High School; and
         WHEREAS, Married to Raymond W. Cooksey in 1941, she lived
  with her husband in the Hitchland and Oslo communities in Hansford
  County after his return from serving overseas in World War II; in
  1952 they bought the Cooksey Grocery Store, which Mrs. Cooksey
  managed until its sale in 1955; four years later, Eunice and Raymond
  Cooksey built the Huddle Drive Inn in Gruver, and Mrs. Cooksey
  managed that business as well; the couple returned in 1968 to
  Clifton, where they purchased and renovated a restaurant that they
  named the Cooksey Place, and they operated that enterprise until
  their retirement in 1989; and
         WHEREAS, Following a two-year residency in a Granbury
  retirement community, Mrs. Cooksey and her husband moved back to
  Clifton in 1991 and rejoined their church family at Trinity
  Lutheran; the marriage of this beloved couple endured for nearly 55
  years, until Mr. Cooksey's death in 1995; and
         WHEREAS, Today, Eunice Cooksey continues to live
  independently at her home and plays an active role at Immanuel
  Lutheran Church; she is the mother of four children, Joyce W.
  Powell, Pamela K. Owens, James L. Cooksey, and the late John A.
  Cooksey, and the grandmother of Rhett, Christie, and Hunter
  Hoestenbach, Craig, Ky, and Katharyn Cooksey, Kimberly and Kyle
  Bartels, and the late Kevin Bartels; and
         WHEREAS, Eunice Cooksey is deeply cherished for her kind and
  caring nature, and her nine decades of life well lived are an
  inspiration to all who know her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Eunice A. Cooksey on her 90th
  birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Cooksey as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
