R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, A 50th wedding anniversary marks a lifetime of love |
|
and shared experiences, and James and Ellen Box of Houston |
|
celebrated this joyous milestone in their marriage on March 28, |
|
2008; and |
|
WHEREAS, Jim Box and the former Ellen Schroder met on a blind |
|
date and were joined in matrimony in 1958 at a ceremony held at Zion |
|
Lutheran Church in Houston; through the years, they have been |
|
blessed with a treasured family that includes three children and |
|
their spouses, Douglas and his wife, LaVelda, Kandy and her |
|
husband, Keith, and Allyson and her husband, Brian, as well as five |
|
grandchildren, David, Derrick, Daniel, Hannah, and Phillip, and two |
|
great-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, A librarian for Spring Branch ISD for more than 20 |
|
years, Mrs. Box has also owned her own landscaping business; Mr. Box |
|
worked with the City of Houston's Department of Planning and |
|
Development and served as senior vice president of the Mischer |
|
Corporation before becoming an independent consultant in 1993; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to meeting their many career and family |
|
responsibilities, Mr. and Mrs. Box are dedicated volunteers and |
|
active members of their community of faith; and |
|
WHEREAS, This devoted couple have enjoyed five decades of |
|
abiding love and affection for one another, and they are among an |
|
exceptional group of men and women who can claim such a lasting |
|
commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 81st Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate James and Ellen Box on their 50th |
|
wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for |
|
continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Box as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
